Here are few design and shopping tips on carpet:

  1. Color selection in carpet is infinite. Carpet color should "ground" the space and coordinate with its surroundings.
  2. It's OK to use different carpet styles in the home. Have fun with it.
  3. Carpet can add warmth and softness to any room.
  4. Use dense, or heavy piled carpet in heavy traffic areas such as hallways and living rooms.
  5. Use lighter piled carpet in formal areas, or bedrooms that don't get as much traffic.
  6. Our carpets come standard with stain and soil protection applied at the mill.
  7. Our carpets are covered by excellent manufacturer warranties for wear and tear.
  8. Carpet is available in four different fibers 1. nylon, 2. wool, 3. polyester, 4. olefin. Each has its pros and cons. You should discuss each with our sales professionals.
  9. Never skimp on the padding... good padding makes the carpet last longer.
  10. The "twist" count of each yarn in the pile is the best determination of quality. The higher the twist count, the better the carpet.
  11. If you have your carpet cleaned, use only the "steam cleaning" method by a professional. Never rent a machine, and there's also no need to apply stain protection, it's built in.

Rugs are universal and are as ageless as history. We can provide you rugs in classic persian, oriental, tribal, traditional, contemporary, and even funky art.

  1. Place rugs to center a room in a"conversational area" setting.
  2. Place a large rug diagonally under furniture for a flair of whimsical.
  3. When using a large rug, it's recommended to leave atleast 18" of exposed flooring around the room.

Vital Stats

The US economy is predicted to grow at a higher rate than initially projected in both 2010 and 2011, according to the National Association for Business Economics.

Home Sales Up in Crawford and Sebastian Counties

Home sales in Crawford and Sebastian counties during May were up despite concerns of a falloff resulting from expiration of federal tax credits for certain homebuyers.

Crawford County saw 63 new and existing homes sold in May, up 7% compared to May 2009, while Sebastian County saw a 29% increase with 143 homes sold in May. The figures are from the King Realty Group’s May report prepared by Realtor Ernie Schimmelman.

Pasted from The City Wire.

Arizona and British Petroleum

I can't seem to wrap my head around the idea of thousands of people marching in the streets to protest an illegal immigrant law enacted by Arizona when thousands upon thousands of gallons of crude oil are spilling in the Gulf of Mexico, destroying the aqua-eco system and putting a stop to people's livelihoods. Why is no one protesting this?

Shaw, Mohawk, and Beaulieu Carpet Price Increase

Shaw, Mohawk, and Beaulieu announced a carpet price increase of 5 to 7 percent this month. This will affect all orders shipped from these manufacturers after May 24th.

On a brighter note, housing construction in March rose to its highest level in 16 months, spurred by multi-family construction. Retail sales also rose for the third straight month, helped in part by the increase in sales of building materials. It's amazing how all things work in tandem. More construction means a better economy.

Armstrong Price Increase

We've just been informed of a price increase announcement by Armstrong World Floors. This will be a six to eight percent increase effective with shipments made on or after June 1, 2010.

Orders accepted prior to June 1 will be protected at the current price level for 30 days beyond the effective date.

EPA vs. FDA Water

I just learned that tap water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and that bottled water is considered a food product, so it's monitored by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Even though both are "water", they're controlled by two different government organizations. Both agencys have seperate rules for reporting contamination and what's considered contamination. FYI, the FDA's rules on what's considered contamination are more flexible than the EPA's rules...

Color of the Year: Turquoise

At Home Arkansas reports that Pantone, the world's authority on color, has chosen turquoise as the color of the year in 2010. For homes, Pantone suggests painting it with neautrals to add excitement, with red and pink as complement, or with dark blue for a classic maritime look. They also suggest to bodly mix it with yellow and green for a trendsetting decor.

Southwest Airlines

Been doing some reading on Southwest Airlines and what makes them tick. After pouring over research, I've summarized that the four main points to their success are:

  1. Keep it quick and easy.
  2. Keep it simple with minimal frills.
  3. Exploit smaller, overlooked markets.
  4. Keep it to one business category.

These points in their business model push them toward one goal, that lower costs equates to more customers.

We are currently shifting our business model using the above points. Look for new things to come.
