Neo-Con Tradeshow in Chicago

Damon Brown is attending this year's Neo-Con tradeshow in Chicago. We hope to gather new products to showcase in our designer showroom. Neo-Con is full of interior design products and options for today's consumers. One item of interest is the new modular travertine chiseled edge stone, stone columns, and stone deco pieces from ICL Stone here in Chicago. Come by and see the new items... they look great.

New Employee Additions

We are proud to announce the additions of Brandy Edwards and Darcey Underwood to our staff.Brandy has recently moved here from Texas and will be assigned to inside sales operations. Her personality will put you at ease, and she looks forward to helping our clients. Darcey brings years of office experience to the operational side of the business, and will be a valued asset to office management.

Dreams To Reality...

Our design philosophy is centered on you...the client. We get to know your likes, dislikes, lifestyle, personality and your vision for the project. Then we take this vision and translate it into a tangible reality. We believe thoughtful design creates an environment that reflects your personality and your lifestyle.

How Do You Define Your Space?

How do you define your space and how it should be furnished?

Whether you crave a traditional, contemporary, modern, or simplistic life style, Damon's Floor Covering offers an eclectic selection of fine area rugs, carpet designs, crafted hardwood, unique lighting, whimsical artwork, and ancient tile patterns from the finest manufacturers around the globe.

Our collections unfold the spirit of older times as well as the hipness of today. They have been inspired by life and the world surrounding the artisans who create them.

Spring Gift Cards

We are gearing up for the spring sale season. Spring is a busy time for us, and we would like to extend a warm welcome to all new customers. Purchase new floor covering for your home in the month of February, tell us you read this on our site, and receive a $25 DFC gift card that can be used toward your next purchase of décor items, prints, rugs, flooring, etc. Many stores claim to be the biggest, or the best; we just care the most about you, our loyal customers, and the ones that will be.

Justin joins the DFC team

We would like to introduce Justin Sexton as the newest member of our sales team. He’s taken the place of Jamie Trotter who moved to St. Louis. Justin is from the Fort Smith area, has traveled extensively, and brings real world experience to the table. He is owner of a cabinet/woodworking shop, and has a great working knowledge of sales. Jamie will be missed, but Justin is working hard to fill the spot, and we look forward to great things. Please contact him to schedule an estimate, help with project planning, or help design your project.

Happy New Year

We are into the New Year now. 2007 has the potential of being a good year if the economy continues to grow and interest rates remain the same, or are cut by mid-year. In the month of January, we’re running our area rugs on sale. We have a large selection in various looks and sizes, as well as special order capability. Rugs are a perfect compliment to hardwood or tile floors. Come by and see us.

We don't want you to be satisfied.

A lot of lip service is paid to customer satisfaction as the pinnacle of business achievement. To us, customer satisfaction is the bottom of business achievement. A satisfied customer is a customer that’s neither glad nor sad about their purchase. They could buy from us again, or they could buy somewhere else. We only did the minimum when it came to pleasing them. Instead, we want you to be a loyal customer, a customer that wouldn’t dream of buying somewhere else. We’ll take a loyal customer over a satisfied customer any day, and we’ll do everything we can in 2007 to make all our customers loyal customers.

Holiday Seasons Greetings

Merry Christmas. We here at Damon's look forward to helping you this holiday season. Remember, we have new decorating accessories as stocking stuffers.  Our new Masland carpet display is fantastic, you should check it out.  Jeremy Burger is off to Pittsburgh to attend a ceramic tile installation class this month. This class will help us better serve you, our client, by providing the latest in installation techniques.  Our company Christmas dinner will be Dec. 7th at the Oaks. We'll be closed Christmas weekend starting on Friday at noon and reopen Tuesday the 26th. Have a very good Christmas from all of us  to all of you.

What's New

We're looking forward to the holiday season coming up. We have some exciting sale items happening in the month of December. We are still reeling from the response of the Mount Magazine State Park flooring project on the park cabins. The job award we won for quality work on the cabins was nice also.
Damon Brown has just completed the Ceramic Tile Sales College in Dallas. The course will aid us in better servicing our clients. Jamie Trotter will attend the Hardwood Sales College, in Memphis, in the middle of December.

Vital Stats

The US economy is predicted to grow at a higher rate than initially projected in both 2010 and 2011, according to the National Association for Business Economics.

Home Sales Up in Crawford and Sebastian Counties

Home sales in Crawford and Sebastian counties during May were up despite concerns of a falloff resulting from expiration of federal tax credits for certain homebuyers.

Crawford County saw 63 new and existing homes sold in May, up 7% compared to May 2009, while Sebastian County saw a 29% increase with 143 homes sold in May. The figures are from the King Realty Group’s May report prepared by Realtor Ernie Schimmelman.

Pasted from The City Wire.

Arizona and British Petroleum

I can't seem to wrap my head around the idea of thousands of people marching in the streets to protest an illegal immigrant law enacted by Arizona when thousands upon thousands of gallons of crude oil are spilling in the Gulf of Mexico, destroying the aqua-eco system and putting a stop to people's livelihoods. Why is no one protesting this?

Shaw, Mohawk, and Beaulieu Carpet Price Increase

Shaw, Mohawk, and Beaulieu announced a carpet price increase of 5 to 7 percent this month. This will affect all orders shipped from these manufacturers after May 24th.

On a brighter note, housing construction in March rose to its highest level in 16 months, spurred by multi-family construction. Retail sales also rose for the third straight month, helped in part by the increase in sales of building materials. It's amazing how all things work in tandem. More construction means a better economy.

Armstrong Price Increase

We've just been informed of a price increase announcement by Armstrong World Floors. This will be a six to eight percent increase effective with shipments made on or after June 1, 2010.

Orders accepted prior to June 1 will be protected at the current price level for 30 days beyond the effective date.

EPA vs. FDA Water

I just learned that tap water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and that bottled water is considered a food product, so it's monitored by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Even though both are "water", they're controlled by two different government organizations. Both agencys have seperate rules for reporting contamination and what's considered contamination. FYI, the FDA's rules on what's considered contamination are more flexible than the EPA's rules...

Color of the Year: Turquoise

At Home Arkansas reports that Pantone, the world's authority on color, has chosen turquoise as the color of the year in 2010. For homes, Pantone suggests painting it with neautrals to add excitement, with red and pink as complement, or with dark blue for a classic maritime look. They also suggest to bodly mix it with yellow and green for a trendsetting decor.

April Sale-Abration

During this month, we'll have:

  1. Prefinished oak hardwood flooring for $1.99 a square foot.

We're already taking pre-orders, so these deals wont last long.

Southwest Airlines

Been doing some reading on Southwest Airlines and what makes them tick. After pouring over research, I've summarized that the four main points to their success are:

  1. Keep it quick and easy.
  2. Keep it simple with minimal frills.
  3. Exploit smaller, overlooked markets.
  4. Keep it to one business category.

These points in their business model push them toward one goal, that lower costs equates to more customers.

We are currently shifting our business model using the above points. Look for new things to come.
