We are jazzed with our new cabinet line. Aristokraft will give us a more economical price point to offer our clients. It is upgradeable like our Diamond line but carries less SKU's and fewer options. It provides a quality product for our cabinet customers without sacrificing. Come in and take a look.

We have changed our website. We felt a need to update our site with a fresher look and feel. It's an artistic change compared to the old site. We feel it will convey our image better and move us forward.

We want to thank Mark and Paige Spradlin for allowing us the opportunity to provide them floor covering in their new home. Mark is a local home builder and Paige has her own real estate firm. I highly suggest their services.

The picture may not be as bleak as some think. One thing is certain: in difficult economic times, two seemingly opposing things will happen: one, people will spend less money, and two, people will spend more time in their homes. Without the cash to spend on evenings out, there will be more attention paid to staying at home and enjoying the pleasures to be found in one’s own living room. In hard times, people will want to turn inward, investing in sprucing up their homes rather than spending their money on tickets to the theater and dinners out.

The trend we're seeing right now is frugality among shoppers. People are still spending money, they're just being more careful how they spend it. People will shop less for wants and more fore needs these days. Maybe why Starbucks is having a rough time. Even Home Depot, with its deep pockets, is closing its high-end Expo stores. Consumers should remember though to not confuse cheap with value. Usually the cheapest price is not the best value.

They're here again. They keep coming around faster every year. Or are we just getting busier every year with blogs, webmail, email, and text messages? Checking this, responding to that, searching for... My laptop goes to my phone, my desktop goes to my laptop, my email goes to all three. I can sync all and go. I can log on anywhere in the world and find out what any contact is up to. I can do everything but remember where my password file is... Have a safe and very happy Thanksgiving and Christmas from all of us at Damon's.

Home sales in Crawford and Sebastian counties during May were up despite concerns of a falloff resulting from expiration of federal tax credits for certain homebuyers.
Crawford County saw 63 new and existing homes sold in May, up 7% compared to May 2009, while Sebastian County saw a 29% increase with 143 homes sold in May. The figures are from the King Realty Group’s May report prepared by Realtor Ernie Schimmelman.

I can't seem to wrap my head around the idea of thousands of people marching in the streets to protest an illegal immigrant law enacted by Arizona when thousands upon thousands of gallons of crude oil are spilling in the Gulf of Mexico, destroying the aqua-eco system and putting a stop to people's livelihoods. Why is no one protesting this?

Shaw, Mohawk, and Beaulieu announced a carpet price increase of 5 to 7 percent this month. This will affect all orders shipped from these manufacturers after May 24th.
On a brighter note, housing construction in March rose to its highest level in 16 months, spurred by multi-family construction. Retail sales also rose for the third straight month, helped in part by the increase in sales of building materials. It's amazing how all things work in tandem. More construction means a better economy.

I just learned that tap water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and that bottled water is considered a food product, so it's monitored by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Even though both are "water", they're controlled by two different government organizations. Both agencys have seperate rules for reporting contamination and what's considered contamination. FYI, the FDA's rules on what's considered contamination are more flexible than the EPA's rules...

At Home Arkansas reports that Pantone, the world's authority on color, has chosen turquoise as the color of the year in 2010. For homes, Pantone suggests painting it with neautrals to add excitement, with red and pink as complement, or with dark blue for a classic maritime look. They also suggest to bodly mix it with yellow and green for a trendsetting decor.

Been doing some reading on Southwest Airlines and what makes them tick. After pouring over research, I've summarized that the four main points to their success are:
- Keep it quick and easy.
- Keep it simple with minimal frills.
- Exploit smaller, overlooked markets.
- Keep it to one business category.
These points in their business model push them toward one goal, that lower costs equates to more customers.
We are currently shifting our business model using the above points. Look for new things to come.
